Recipe #99| Boil and Bake Baby Back Ribs

Making the Boil and Bake Baby Back Ribs

If you don’t have time to smoke ribs for 7 hours here is an alternative recipe that is simple to make and you will be sure to have tender, juicy and delicious ribs for any occasion. There is no BBQ sauce in this recipe just a drizzle of Pomegranate Molasses to give them a bright and tangy finish.

 

Ingredients:

3 Racks Baby Back Ribs (Pastured Pork)
3 Yellow Onions
Maple Syrup (Dark Grade 3)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Coconut Oil
Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
Fresh Rosemary
Dried Bay Leave

Seasonings:

Amchur (Green Mango Powder)
Anardana (Dried Pomegranate Seeds)
Ginger Powder
Dried Oregano
Garlic Powder
Cumin
Applewood Smoked Sea Salt
Black Pepper
Sea Salt

Process:

1.Use a spoon to get under the thin membrane on the bottom of the ribs and peel away the thin membrane skin away from the ribs
2. Cut the Ribs in Half
3. Fill a large stock pot with cold water and add 1 Tbsp Applewood Smoked Sea Salt, 1/4 Cup Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, 1/4 Cup Maple Syrup, 2 Sprigs of Rosemary and 3 Bay Leaves.
4. Add the Ribs to the stock pot and allow the ribs to soak for 4 to 24 hours in the fridge. If you don’t have the time just boil.
5. Place the stock pot of ribs on the stove top and bring the ribs to a boil immediately turn down the heat and allow the ribs to simmer for 1 hour.
6. While the ribs are simmering you may need to scrap off some foam that is created on the top of the water. Use a spoon to scoop off and discard.
7. Clean and chop 3 yellow onions and place them onto a heavy baking pan that is greased with coconut oil.
8. One the ribs have cooked for an hour remove from the water and place on top of the onions in the pan.
9. Preheat the oven to 400F.
10. Now its time to season the ribs. Drizzle some apple cider vinegar and olive oil on both sides of the rib racks. Sprinkle a generous amount of all the seasonings listed except for the applewood smoked sea salt.
11. Drizzle maple syrup on both sides and finish with a sprinkle of applewood smoked sea salt.
12. Position the ribs on top of the onions. You will not need to flip the ribs at any time during the cooking.
13. Bake the at 450F for 15 minutes then turn the oven down to 275F and bake for and additional hour. If you have 2 baking sheets in the oven rotate the pans half way through the cooking.
14. Remove the ribs from the oven and drizzle with pomegranate molasses
15. Put the oven on the broil setting at 450F and place the ribs on the top rack for 4-5 minutes to quickly crisp up the top of the ribs.
16. Cut the ribs and serve. Finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon.
