Making The Bacon and Fig Brussels Sprouts
Here is a great Side Dish to serve with Roasted Chicken or Grilled Steak. The combination of the Salty Bacon and Sweetness from the Figs and Maple Syrup make this dish amazingly delicious!
Ingredients:
2 Cups Brussel Sprouts
2 Slices Thick Cut Bacon
4 Dried Mission figs
1 Cup Pearl Onions or Chopped Yellow Onion
1/4 Cup Chopped Fresh Basil
Lemon Wedge
1 Tbsp Maple Syrup
Coconut Oil or Duck Fat
Sea Salt
Black Pepper
Dried Oregano
Process:
1. Clean and Chop Brussel Sprouts in Half
2. Clean Peel Onions (soak in warm water to remove skins)
3. Chop Bacon into small pieces
4. Chop Figs
5. Saute Onions with Bacon in 2 tsp preferred oil
6. Once Bacon is golden add Brussel Sprouts and Saute for about 5 Minutes
7. Add Splash of water if the pan starts to brown
8. Add Sea Salt Black pepper and Dried Oregano
9. Add Chopped Figs and 1 tbsp Maple Syrup and Squeeze Lemon Wedge into pan
9. Cover Pan and allow to cook until Brussel Sprouts are tender
