Recipe #67 | Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Torte

Making The Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Torte

Here is a Decadent Dark Chocolate Hazelnut Torte that is so delicious you will want to jump for joy! It is near impossible to eat just one slice! Great for a Paleo Birthday Cake or to serve on any special occasion.

Ingredients:

8 Oz Dark Chocolate Bittersweet (Higher than 60%)
1/4 Cup Coconut Oil
1/4 Cup Grass Fed Butter
6 Eggs
1/2 Cup Coconut Sugar
1/2 Cup Ground Blanched Hazelnuts
1/2 Cup Almond Flour
2 tsp Vanilla Extract
2 Tbsp Dutch Cocoa
1/4 tsp Sea Salt

1/4 Cup Crushed Blanched Hazelnuts (For Topping)

Dark Chocolate Glaze Ingredients:

2 Oz Dark Chocolate
1 Tbsp Butter
1 Tbsp Full Fat Coconut Milk (just the thick fat, not the water)
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 Tbsp Honey

 

Process:

1. Preheat oven to 375F
2. Set up Double Boiler for Chocolate keep heat medium to low
3. Mix 8 ounces Dark Chocolate, Butter and Coconut Oil. Allow ingredients to melt then set aside to cool
4. Separate eggs
5. With Electric beater whip Egg Whites until stiff peaks form. Set Aside.
6. Mix Egg Yolks with Coconut Sugar, Vanilla, Sea Salt and Dutch Cocoa. Add Almond Flour and Ground Hazelnuts.
7. Combine Melted Chocolate with Egg Yolk Mixture
8. Fold in Egg Whites until evenly combined with Chocolate mixture
9. Use Coconut Oil and Grease a 9 inch Spring Pan and line with Parchment Paper
10. Pour cake batter into cake pan and bake at 375F for 25 – 30 minutes or until toothpick tests dry
11. Allow Cake to cool then spread Dark Chocolate Glaze evenly onto Cake. Sprinkle with Crushed Hazelnuts

While the cake is baking make the Dark Chocolate Glaze…

1. Use Same Double Boiler with a fresh clean bowl and combine all the Glaze Ingredients
2. Once Chocolate Glaze is fully combined and melted set aside
