Making The Fig And Basil Chicken Wrapped In Bacon

This recipe is simple and you will stand out as a Gourmet Chef when you serve these at your next dinner party. The maple syrup is subtle and sweetness from the fig and basil balances the salty bacon it is the perfect synergy of ingredients! When shopping for ingredients be sure to choose local fresh ingredients. Free Range Chicken from your local farmers market and Free Range Nitrate Free Bacon.

Ingredients:

4 Chicken Breasts
Fresh Basil
Mission Figs
Bacon

 

Seasonings:

Sea Salt
Fresh Cracked Black Pepper
1 tsp Dried Oregano
1 Tbsp Olive Oil
2 Tbsp Maple Syrup (Grade 2)

 

Process:

1. Preheat Oven to 400F and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper (Ensure Oven racks are evenly distributed in the oven)
2. Cut each chicken breast into about 4-5 pieces
3. Place cut chicken into a mixing bowl and add all the seasonings. Set aside and allow chicken to marinate.
4. Take note of how many pieces of chicken you have (may be approximately 24 pieces).
5. Cut Mission Fig in Half and prepare 1 fig half for each piece of chicken and 1 basil leaf
6. Cut Bacon Strip in half and prepare 1 half bacon strip for each piece of chicken
7. Place 1 half piece of bacon on cutting board then lay basil leaf then fig and place chicken on top
8. Roll the bacon around ingredients and secure it all with a toothpick
9. Place the bacon wrapped chicken on the baking sheet and repeat until all the chicken is wrapped
10. Put chicken into the oven and cook for 10 minutes then rotate the baking sheets and cook for another 10 minutes
11. After 20 minutes of cooking increase the oven temperature to 450-500F and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes this step will ensure the bacon gets crispy
12. Total cooking time should take about 30 minutes. This will depend on how small you cut the chicken. Keep your eye on the chicken in the last 10 minutes.
13. Serve up as an appetizer of as dinner with your favorite side
