Recipe #14 | Tasty Italian Style Turkey Beef Chili

Making The Tasty Italian Style Turkey Beef Chili

The flavors of Italy really come out in this chili. Basil, Sun-dried Tomato, and Eggplant are all signature flavors in Italian cooking. You will love this dish! It is light and hearty at the same time. The Beef adds a hearty flavor to this dish however it is still delicious if you use only Turkey.

Ingredients:

2 lbs Ground Turkey
1 lb Ground Beef
2 Yellow Onions
4 Cloves Garlic
4 Stalks Celery
1 Sweet Potato
1 Yellow Pepper
1 Red Pepper
1 Egg Plant
3 Cups Mushrooms Brown and White
1 Can Whole Roma Tomatoes (28 oz)
1 Can Tomato Paste (5.5 oz)
Fresh Basil
Fresh Italian Parsley
2 tbsp Sun dried Tomato in Oil

 

Seasonings:

Sea Salt
Black Pepper
Cumin
Smoked Paprika
Fenugreek
Oregano

 

Process:

1. Dice Onions and Saute in large cast iron pot on medium heat in Coconut oil or Duck Fat
2. Chop all Vegetables
3. Add Celery, Peppers and Garlic and continue to sauté for approximately 5 minutes
4. Add Eggplant and Mushrooms saute for another couple minutes
5. Add All Seasonings at this time and 2 Tbsp of Sun-dried Tomato
6. Puree the canned Tomatoes with a handful of fresh Basil and Parsley
7. Add half of the Tomato Puree to pot of vegetables
8. Add the Turkey and Beef to pot and mix
9. Stir in remaining Tomato Puree and add whole can of Tomato Paste
10. Add chopped Sweet Potato and more chopped Basil and Parsley
11. Allow the Chili to simmer on low heat for 45 minutes
12. Serve and eat!

Note: The longer you allow this chili to simmer the more the flavors will come through and it is amazing the next day for lunch!
